In 1897, the University moved from forty-ninth Street and Madison Avenue, where the campus has stood for forty years, its location is in Morningside Heights 116th Street and Broadway. In addition to the New York City Campus, Columbia has two facilities outside of Manhattan.

Nevis laboratories, founded in 1947, is the main center of the Columbia study of high energy experimental particle and nuclear physics. Located in Irvington, New York, Nevis is located on 60 acres was originally owned by the son of Alexander Hamilton.

Tour of campus access
Visitors with disabilities can request the Morningside campus tours can be accessed from the visitors center, 213 of low library. Tours are organized to meet the needs of individual visitors; three weeks advance notice is required. To arrange a tour, visitors can contact email visitorscenter@columbia.edu. Visitors with impaired mobility who arrived at Morningside campus without prior notice can arrange tours of the upper campus through the visitor centre, the availability of tour guides. Visitors Center does not provide wheelchairs, golf carts or other modes.
